3d inspections

3D inspections

A 3D inspection involves scanning an object or scene to memorialize its geometric features at that time. The 3D scan is then imported onto a computer program and is visualized as a point cloud.  The output can be used to compare as-built and design parameters or to measure any dimension in the 3D space. The analysis of these 3D images allows for objective and impartial information to be given to a client about the object they are having inspected.

3d Inspections can include:

  • A scan is taken of an object (car, building, part, etc.)

  • Displayed on the computer in 3d form

  • Several inspection techniques performed

  • Includes inspection of internal and external aspects of the scan

ARA uses various methods for 3D scanning (link to equipment here)

  1. FARO scanning

  2. Hand held scanning

  3. Drone scanning

  4. CT scanning
