vehicle fire analysis

vehicle fire analysis

Vehicle fire analysis requires the examination of an experienced fire investigator as each vehicle fire is unique due to vehicle variances by make, model, and year. Our fire analysis experts and engineers, who specialize in automotive and electrical systems, are able to gather data evidence and determine the location, extent, and cause of the fire. Vehicle examination and data gathering techniques/services for vehicle fire analysis include 3D laser scanning, materials analysis, exemplar testing and modeling, and individual component x-ray modeling using CT(Computed Tomography) and SEM(Scanning Electron Microscopy). Possible sources of ignition and combustion include, but are not limited to, electrical systems malfunction, mechanical failure, and fluid contamination, and the nature of the failure can be attributed accurately whether to a possible manufacturing defect or damage from an external source.

  • damage patterns can sometimes be used to understand certain characteristics of the fire. In many cases, the goal is to determine the cause and origin of the fire.

  • applicable standards. The scientific method, as defined by NFPA 921 and required by the courts for qualifying expert witnesses

  • viable fuels, ignition sources, combustible materials, and fire propagation paths for automobiles and heavy trucks.
